We have some good news for those of you who were unable to watch the webinar organised by WTM Latin America involving top tourism authorities from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay: it is going to presented again in Portuguese, English and Spanish on the WTM Global Hub on 11 August at 14:30. As well as the Latin American ministers, the event also involved the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and was hosted by CNN en Español anchor, Gabriela Frías. The central theme of the debate was “Plans for the resumption of tourism in Latin America”. José Luis Uriarte, Chile’s Under-Secretary of Tourism; Julián Guerrero, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Colombia; Germán Cardoso, Minister of Tourism of Uruguay; Sofía Montiel de Afara, Minister of Tourism of Paraguay; Ricardo Sosa, Executive Secretary of the INPROTUR Argentina, and Gloria Guevara, President and CEO of the WTTC, talked about the directions the tourism industry, especially in Latin America, is likely to take after the pandemic.
Topics such as the impact of the pandemic on the tourism market, sanitization and safety protocols, seals and stamps for safe destinations, reactivating domestic tourism, sustainable tourism post-covid and proposals for national and international cooperation measures were discussed during the event.
