WTM promotes a webinar with authorities from tourism in Latin America and with the WTTC

Hosted by CNN en Español anchor, Gabriela Frias, the encounter will be simultaneously translated into Portuguese and English

On 21 July at 15.00, WTM Latin America will be promoting a webinar with top tourism authorities from Chile, Colombia and Uruguay. In addition to the Latin American ministers, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) will also be taking part. The webinar, which will take place on the  WTM Global Hub, will be presented in Spanish by CNN en Español anchor, Gabriela Frias, and the number of places is limited. The webinar will be simultaneously translated into Portuguese and English.

The central topic of the debate is “Plans for the resumption of tourism in Latin America”. José Luis Uriarte, Chile’s Under-Secretary of Tourism; Julián Guerrero, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Colombia and Germán Cardoso, Minister of Tourism of Uruguay, join Gloria Guevara, President and CEO of WTTC, to talk about the directions that the tourism industry, especially in Latin America, should take after the pandemic.

The global director of the WTM portfolio, Claude Blanc, stresses the relevance of the webinar that is being promoted by WTM Latin America, and that will provides a clear view of the possible steps that can be taken to rebuild this important industry worldwide. “This webinar with ministers from Latin America will be an excellent opportunity for the authorities to meet and discuss the resumption of tourism in their countries after the peak of the pandemic has passed. Once again, WTM Latin America is offering a platform that explores the best ways for the tourism market in the region to ‘recover, rebuild and innovate’,” he stresses.

On the agenda of the encounter will be topics such as the impact of the pandemic on the tourism market, health and safety protocols, seals and stamps for safe destinations, reactivating domestic tourism, the use of technology for promoting destinations, sustainable tourism in the post-COVID period and proposals for national and international cooperation measures.

Luciane Leite, director of WTM Latin America, empathizes the role the event plays in acting as a hub for the market for networking, good practices and knowledge.
